From next Monday, June 15th, individuals will need a silver or gold account on Gov.br to use the Regularize portal, a platform run by the Attorney General of the National Treasury (PGFN) to check debts, adhere to notices and pay debts with the Union in installments.
Those who still use a bronze account will be alerted when trying to access the website until June 14th and redirected to upgrade instructions. After this date, bronze level access will be blocked.
Why the change and what changes in practice
The measure seeks to increase security in validating user data in operations involving financial values and sensitive information, such as debt renegotiation. The bronze account, with authentication only by CPF and password, offers basic security. The silver and gold levels use more robust identity verification methods.
Silver levelcan be obtained by:
- Facial recognition via the Gov.br application (cross-checking CNH data)
- Authentication by accredited bank
- Validation via SIGEPE (for federal public servants)
Gold level, the safest, includes:
- Facial recognition with Electoral Court biometrics or new National Identity Card (CIN)
- Digital certificate compatible with ICP-Brasil
How to level up
The process is free and can be done directly on the Gov.br app or website, in the “Increase level” section. Bronze users who access Regularize in the next few days will receive the link with the step-by-step guide.
The Gov.br platform already has 176 million active accounts, more than 118 million of which are at silver or gold levels. This digital identity gives access to more than 4,600 federal services.
This requirement follows a trend observed on other portals, such as the Federal Revenue Service’s e-CAC for pre-filled Income Tax declarations and INSS and Incra services, which also require higher levels of security to protect citizens against fraud.
Tips for not missing the deadline
- Check your account level now on the Gov.br app
- Prefer facial recognition, which tends to be the quickest route for most
- Anyone who has updated biometrics at the Electoral Court or digital certificate can get gold more easily
The change does not affect companies, which follow specific access rules.
