The Argentine team is preparing for a decisive clash against Austria next Monday, in Dallas, in the second round of the World Cup group stage. The expectation is that striker Julián Alvarez will start the match as a starter for the current world champion.

The Atlético de Madrid athlete did not start playing in the debut against Algeria, remaining on the bench due to a recent recovery from inflammation in his left ankle. However, his entry in the second half, replacing Lautaro Martínez, demonstrated a promising performance on the field.

Another change projected in coach Lionel Scaloni’s team, motivated by physical conditions, is the replacement on the right flank, with Molina taking Montiel’s place.

Almada, who played for Botafogo, could be one of the players to leave the starting lineup for the clash with Austria. The good synergy between Nico González and Julián Álvarez in the second half of the match against Algeria suggests that Scaloni is studying tactical adjustments in the team.

  • Messi and Julian Alvarez

This Friday morning, Argentine athletes participated in training in Kansas City. In the brief fifteen minutes allowed to the press, the activity was limited to warm-up exercises and recreational moments, with Messi demonstrating full participation.

The team will still carry out two more training sessions in the same city, on Saturday and Sunday, before moving to Dallas the day before the game.

A positive result against Austria could ensure not only early qualification for the next stage of the tournament, but also the top of the group. However, for this to happen, Jordan must not beat Algeria on the same day as Argentina’s match.
