Even playing away from home, Athletico-PR started the duel adopting an offensive stance. However, the team found considerable difficulty in constructing attacking moves that could threaten the opponent.
Gradually, Boca Juniors managed to equalize the actions on the field and opened the scoring in the 27th minute of the first half. After a corner, Lautaro Blanco received the ball from Ascacíbar and launched a powerful shot into the top corner of the goal, with no chance of defense for goalkeeper Santos, despite his effort.
The confrontation maintained a balanced rhythm until the end of the first stage.
At the beginning of the second half, Athletico-PR demonstrated more offensive impetus and created two clear opportunities in the first ten minutes. However, the team’s situation became more complicated in the 14th minute, when goalkeeper Santos was sent off directly for a dangerous play, hitting Leonel Flores in the face with his high foot.
With one more player on the field, Boca Juniors began to dominate the actions, creating successive scoring chances. Despite the pressure, the Argentine team consolidated the victory with the minimum score over Furacão.
