Google’s new Pixel 11 cell phones arrive in August with possible price hikes
Google has scheduled its next “Made By Google” event for August 12 in New York City. Although the invitation does not detail the products, the images released clearly point to a new Pixel cell phone, visually similar to the previous model. Rumors indicate that the updated devices may have higher prices, driven by shortages of components related to artificial intelligence.
The smartphone’s lines shown in the promotional image are reminiscent of Google’s recent Pixel models, which is in line with early speculation. The company’s next cell phones should maintain similar formats, with possible small reductions in thickness for the Pro and Pro Fold versions. The most anticipated aesthetic innovation is the “Pixel Glow”, a notification and status indicator light on the back.
Recent information indicates that Google will finally stop offering the 128 GB storage option for smaller cell phone models. In 2025, both the Pixel 10 and the Pixel 10 Pro came with 128 GB of base, which is considered little for a high-end device these days, especially since consumers don’t change cell phones with the same frequency. The expectation is that Google will start offering 256 GB as initial storage for both models.

Leaks also brought the supposed values to the European market, but it is important to note that the increase of 100 euros is offset by the increase in base storage. The Pixel 11 and Pixel 11 Pro are expected to start at 999 and 1,199 euros, respectively. These prices match last year’s 256GB versions, meaning there won’t be a more affordable storage alternative this time around. The Pixel 11 Pro XL and Pixel 11 Pro Fold will also have an increase of 100 euros in their basic 256 GB version, representing a direct increase in values.
In keeping with Google’s price conversion strategy, the Pixel 11 in the United States could start at US$899, an increase of US$100 compared to the previous year. The Pixel 11 Pro is projected for $1,099. Following the same logic, the Pixel 11 Pro XL could have a starting price of US$1,299. The top-of-the-line foldable model can reach an impressive $1,899, still remaining slightly cheaper than Samsung’s main foldable competitors.
Impact of artificial intelligence on cell phone prices
The full impact of the wave of excitement around artificial intelligence infrastructure was just beginning to be felt in 2025, when Google launched the Pixel 10 series. In 2026, however, the landscape changed significantly, with several brands already announcing price adjustments on their products. Therefore, rumors about an increase in the price of the Pixel line seem quite plausible in the current scenario.
Google is also expected to present the Pixel Watch 5, and again, no major changes to its design are expected. All generations of the Pixel Watch have had a nearly identical look, with the inclusion of a 45mm option in the third generation being the most noticeable change. The new wearable may be equipped with a Tensor chip, developed by Google itself, instead of the Qualcomm Snapdragon. This transition to Google phones was a challenge, and time will tell if Tensor will be able to offer enough power in a wearable device without compromising battery life.
The only difference from last year’s “Made By Google” event is that all programming will take place at night. The reveal is scheduled to begin at 6pm ET on August 12th.
