On August 3, 2026, Santos released information about the participation of Neymar, their attacking midfielder and captain, in the clash with Remo. Despite a charity auction scheduled for the same night, the athlete confirmed his presence at the game, traveling to Belém, Pará, on the morning of August 4, 2026, the date of the Copa do Brasil match.
The club stated that “Athlete Neymar Jr. will travel this Tuesday to Belém, where he will join the Santos FC delegation and will be available to the technical committee for the match against Remo.”
The player is the central attraction of the 6th Neymar Jr. Project Institute Auction, which takes place in São Paulo on the night of August 3, 2026. The Santos team, on the other hand, leaves for Belém hours before, still in the afternoon.
The expectation is that the athlete will start as a starter under the command of coach Cuca in the game played at Mangueirão, valid for the return of the round of 16 of the Copa do Brasil. In the first leg, on August 1, 2026, at Vila Belmiro, in Santos, the teams drew goalless.
After the previous match, Cuca had expressed uncertainty about Neymar’s participation in the “decisive” meeting with Remo. The coach mentioned, at the time, physical concerns, which the club, however, appears to have resolved on August 3, 2026.
Cuca said that “As for the auction, it’s something of his, every year, it’s charitable, people come from all over the world. I leave it to the board to resolve with him. What I need to do is reevaluate the re-presentation”, during the press conference after the game.
He further stated: “He hadn’t played a full match in 74 days, we have to see how much wear and tear he has and then resolve it internally. I’m not going to answer what you want. He does regenerative therapy, everyone goes through recovery, looks for the CK, takes the blood, puts it on the device and shows the degree of fatigue, the level of injury, whether it’s low or high.”
