The detailed launch of GTA 6 by Netflix generated a frenzy among fans, resulting in the PS5 Pro console quickly selling out in several stores in the United States. Those few establishments that still have the device in stock started charging considerably higher prices than usual.
Initially, the PlayStation Direct platform was one of the last places to offer the PS5 Pro for the standard price of US$899, equivalent to R$4,662. However, stock was quickly depleted in this sales channel as well, adding to the fact that retailers such as Walmart and Best Buy no longer stock the product.
On Amazon, the console can still be purchased, but at inflated prices. Reseller units cost up to US$1,120.55 (approximately R$5,810), and a new device can cost up to US$1,359.99 (approximately R$7,052).
In contrast to the American scenario, the GTA 6 trailer did not provoke a rush to stores in Brazil. Here, the PS5 Pro remains available on the market, with a suggested price of R$7,500 or, in some cases, even more affordable prices.

The rapid depletion of the PS5 Pro suggests that the projections of gaming market experts are coming true. The expectation is that GTA 6 will be one of the main catalysts for the increase in console sales in the final period of the year.
An executive from consultancy Newzoo indicated that, without the game’s launch, 2026 could have been a year without expansion for the video game sector. With the arrival of GTA 6, however, a 5.1% increase in revenue is expected compared to the results of 2025.
Interestingly, the good performance of the Nintendo Switch 2, with consistent sales throughout the year, also contributes to the stability of the gaming market, even without receiving GTA 6 in November. Considering that the title will not be available on PC in its initial release, the PS5 Pro establishes itself as the most powerful platform to enjoy GTA 6, which fuels much of the expectation. Despite this, the game is not expected to operate at more than 30 frames per second, even on the PS5 Pro.
