Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson was ruled out of the game against the Buffalo Bills after hurting his right thumb on the team’s first offensive play. The game is being played at Highmark Stadium, in Orchard Park, New York.
The injury happened on a pass attempt to wide receiver Zay Flowers in the first quarter. As Jackson threw, his right hand collided hard with the body of a Bills defender, and he walked straight to the locker room in obvious pain.
Jackson was returning after missing three straight games with an ankle injury. His return lasted only one play, and the team ruled him out before the first quarter ended.

Ravens lose second quarterback before halftime
The Ravens’ problems grew minutes later, when backup Tyler Huntley hurt his toe in the second quarter. The medical staff also ruled him out after reevaluating him at halftime.
With two quarterbacks sidelined in the same half, the coaching staff had to call on Joe Fagnano. The undrafted rookie from UConn was the team’s third-string emergency quarterback, and he had not taken the field this season before Sunday. He completed 5 of 8 passes for 50 yards with one interception before halftime.
