Levante UD announced the renewal of Héctor Rodas and José Gila as head of the sports direction of the men’s section until 2028. The club made the decision official through a statement on social media, reinforcing confidence in the duo who took charge at a delicate time.

The measure consolidates the technical structure of the Granota club. Rodas and Gila began to lead the sports area after the departure of Felipe Miñambres, at the beginning of 2025. Since then, the duo has directly contributed to two central objectives: the return to the First Division in the 2024/2025 season and the permanence of the Spanish football elite in the 2025/2026 campaign.

Consolidated experience at the club

Héctor Rodas has a long history at Levante UD, where he played as a professional player for 15 years. Graduated in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences, he also has specific training as a sports director. José Gila, in turn, coordinated data collection and analysis since 2019 before taking on the role of head of scouting.

The combination of complementary profiles allowed for greater coordination in the sports portion. The Board of Directors highlighted the efficient management of resources and the application of a methodology aligned with the entity’s objectives.

Focus on stability and growth

With their permanence assured last season, Levante enters the second consecutive year in the First Division with greater predictability. The sports management intends to consolidate a way of working that evolves annually, guaranteeing stability to the main team and strengthening the club’s project in the elite.

The quarry continues as a priority pillar. The renewal signals that Levante wants to maintain the same line of planning for the transfer market, prioritizing players who know LaLiga, profiles from other European leagues and young people with the potential to stand out under the command of coach Luís Castro.

What changes for the future

Continuity until 2028 gives the sports management time to execute a medium-term project. Instead of constant changes at the technical level, the club is betting on the accumulation of internal knowledge and the gradual construction of a competitive team, even with more limited resources compared to direct rivals.

This decision comes at a time when Levante is preparing for the 2026/2027 season. The historic stay in the elite was celebrated by the fans, and the maintenance of the duo responsible for assembling the squad reinforces the message of a solid, long-term project.
