Pablo Maffeo is leaving Real Mallorca for Olympiakos, in Greece. The 28-year-old right-back had a full agreement between the clubs for an estimated value of between 2.5 and 3 million euros and is expected to sign a three-year contract, with the option of another.

The operation has accelerated in recent days and should be made official soon. The player will travel to Greece around June 17th to undergo medical examinations and sign the contract.

Olympiakos are looking for quick reinforcements after Costinha left for Brighton. Coach José Luis Mendilibar specifically asked for Maffeo’s profile, valuing his experience in La Liga and combative style.

Maffeo has played more than 150 games in the Spanish elite since arriving at Mallorca, initially on loan in 2021 and then permanently. He contributed to the club’s permanence in previous seasons, but did not prevent relegation in the last edition of the Spanish Championship.

The defender, who also has Argentine nationality, leaves the island of Mallorca after five years. The sale represents a low-cost exit for the Balearic club, which needs to settle accounts after falling to the Second Division.

In El Piraeus, Maffeo arrives to compete for a position on the right flank and help the team in European competitions. Olympiakos is one of the main clubs in the Greek Super League and competes for places in continental group stages.

Maffeo’s career includes spells at Manchester City, Girona, Huesca and Stuttgart before establishing himself in Spain. His experience in competitive leagues and high-level games should be a differentiator in Greek football.
