The International Football Federation (FIFA) announced this Monday the official ball for the decisive stages of the 2026 World Cup, with the tournament approaching its final clashes. The Trionda, the name of the model, adopts a renewed design with golden details, following the tradition for the semifinals, the third place dispute and the grand final, scheduled for July 19th. A crucial innovation present in the ball is a chip that improves shot detection, being able to register even a light touch, which seeks to guarantee greater precision in arbitration decisions.
Details of Trionda’s new design for the 2026 World Cup
The launch ceremony took place in downtown New York, where a giant replica of the ball was installed atop the iconic Atlas monument. Located in front of Rockefeller Center, the tourist spot will host the exhibition until the 20th of this month.
In addition to the golden aesthetic, Trionda’s design includes inscriptions that pay homage to the games’ locations. The buds feature the names of the host cities: Dallas and Atlanta will host the semifinals, Miami will host the match for third place, while New York and New Jersey will host the final decision.
The ball also incorporates raised elements that symbolize the tournament’s host countries. A star represents the United States, the maple leaf represents Canada and an eagle represents Mexico. The initial Trionda model already featured panels with national references in blue, green and red.
