Formula 1 may have two Brazilian representatives on the grid in the near future. Formula 3 champion, driver Rafael Câmara emerges as one of the strong candidates for the 2027 season, with his name linked to the Haas and Cadillac teams. If his entry into the main category comes true, Câmara will be the second Brazilian to debut in just two years, following the arrival of Gabriel Bortoleto, who will make his debut in 2025. The scenario takes place on August 3, 2026.

Pilot Rafael Câmara comments on the influence of the Brazilian legacy on Formula 1
When talking about the chance to reach the elite of world motorsport, Rafael Câmara emphasized the importance of the legacy built by compatriots in Formula 1. He stated that this inspiring story serves as a great motivation for the new generation of drivers.
“We saw what they did for our country, what they did in sport. I think this is certainly something that motivates us, and I believe it makes us want to perform well, also representing our country”, said Rafael Câmara.
New vacancies in Formula 1 could boost the return of two Brazilian drivers
In addition to good performance on the tracks, the current environment in Formula 1 has become more conducive. Cadillac’s entry has the potential to expand the grid to 11 teams from 2027, opening up more places and increasing opportunities for young talent. In this context, Rafael Câmara is speculated both at Haas, which has a technical partnership with Ferrari, and at Cadillac itself. However, there is still no official confirmation about the Brazilian’s future in the main category.
If Rafael Câmara’s promotion is confirmed, Brazil will once again have two starting drivers in Formula 1, something that has not happened since 2016, when Felipe Massa and Felipe Nasr competed together. After Massa’s departure in 2017, the country spent eight seasons without permanent representatives. This fast was ended with the debut of Gabriel Bortoleto in 2025, and now Câmara stands out as the main name to once again strengthen the Brazilian presence in Formula 1, a move eagerly awaited by motor sport fans in the country.
