The Argentine Justice intensified the investigation into the death of Diego Armando Maradona, requesting search and seizure warrants at the Los Arcos Sanatorium and Swiss Medical on August 20, 2026. The action aims to clarify the alleged use of the medical history of Don Diego, the former player’s father, during the analysis by the Medical Board that evaluated the football idol’s death. This new stage seeks to understand the relevance of these records to the main case and whether they were used correctly within the investigation.

Prosecutor Patricio Ferrari formalized requests to carry out searches at the Los Arcos Sanatorium and Swiss Medical. The central objective is to determine how the medical records of Don Diego, Maradona’s father, were accessed and used by the Medical Council during the investigation into the star’s death. The investigation line focuses on possible irregularities in the handling of sensitive data and the influence of this data on the official assessment.

Ferrari also requested that nephrologist Hernán Trimarchi be investigated for perjury, indicating that the investigation delves into procedural and ethical details. This development adds a layer of complexity to the already intricate case of Maradona’s death.

New requests and accusations of false evidence

In addition to the requests from the Public Ministry, lawyer Fernando Burlando, who acts as a party to the accusation, requested search warrants at Clínica Olivos. This is the place where Diego Maradona underwent surgery to treat a subdural hematoma, one of the crucial points in analyzing the circumstances of his death. The request indicates an interest in reviewing documents and information from the critical period of hospitalization.

In a twist in the process, prosecutor Patricio Ferrari accused lawyers Nicolás D’Albora and Agustín Varela, defenders of Nancy Edith Forlini (head of home care at Swiss Medical), of “presenting false evidence”. Ferrari stated that the intention would be to “deceive” the parties involved, but assured that this action will not nullify the progress of the main trial.

What do the judges evaluate now?

Judges Alberto Gaig, Alberto Ortolani and Pablo Rolón are currently on recess to analyze the various requests presented by the parties. They must deliberate on the relevance of additional search and seizure warrants and the charges of perjury and presentation of false evidence. The decision of these magistrates will be fundamental for the next steps in the investigation into the death of the Argentine star.
