IO Interactive has set March 18, 2027 as the release date for 007 First Light on Nintendo Switch 2. The studio made the announcement on October 14, 2026, during the IGN Fall Fan Fest 2026, together with a new trailer and the immediate opening of pre-orders.
The game has been out since May 27, 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC, through Steam and the Epic Games Store. By August 2026, it had sold 4 million units, and the Nintendo console version was held back for technical adjustments.
Pre-order perks and the Game-Key Card format on Switch 2
Players who secure a pre-order for Switch 2 receive the GoldenEye Suit, a costume based on the look Pierce Brosnan wore in the 1995 film GoldenEye. The physical edition sold exclusively by Amazon adds the Classic Tuxedo to the agent’s wardrobe.
The physical copies use the Game-Key Card, a card with an activation key that does not store the full game. Because of that, players must download the complete data over the internet before their first session. Besides the standard version and the Amazon edition, IO Interactive opened pre-orders for the Deluxe Edition, which adds cosmetic items and gear for specific missions.
The Deluxe Edition costs US$69.99 in the United States, €69.99 in Europe and £69.99 in the United Kingdom. These are the suggested retail prices published by the studio, and they cover only this edition.

Patrick Gibson plays a young Bond who starts in the Navy
The game comes from the studio behind the Hitman spy series and reimagines how James Bond became an agent. Actor Patrick Gibson plays the character at 26, when he still served as a young air crewman in the British Royal Navy. Before entering the 00 training program of the MI6 intelligence service, he works alongside his reluctant mentor Greenway to stop an international conspiracy.
The Switch 2 version will arrive with the free updates already released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. Those include New Game Plus, which lets players restart the campaign while keeping their progress, a “00” difficulty level, a photo mode and new challenge missions in TacSim.
Date changes that pushed the Switch 2 version back to 2027
007 First Light was revealed under this name on June 2, 2025. The original plan called for a simultaneous launch on all platforms on March 27, 2026, but the general date slipped to May 27, 2026. Days before that debut, the Switch 2 version was separated from the others and moved to the third quarter of 2026.

In September 2026, IO Interactive announced another move, to March 2027. Technical producer Cristina Vega said the decision did not come from unexpected technical failures, but from the team’s need for rest and from requests made by marketing. According to her, “being postponed for the third time is certainly disappointing news for fans,” although the measure was taken for the benefit of players.
Before setting the release day, the studio released playable test versions, called hands-on builds, running on Nintendo Switch 2 at gamescom and the Tokyo Game Show. IO Interactive said the player response at both events was positive.
Even with the date and pre-orders announced, IO Interactive has not disclosed the image resolution or the frames per second (FPS) of the final Switch 2 version. As of the reporting of this story, no price in reais had been announced for the console version.
