Benedetti reinforces Palmeiras squad amid European surveys and R$600 million fine

Defender Luis Benedetti returned to play for the Palmeiras professional team last Sunday, in a match against Athletico, after a hiatus of almost two months without taking the field. The return of the 19-year-old defender comes at a time of internal and external appreciation, consolidating his position as one of the most promising pieces of Academia and Futebol. Mesmo with the recent short draft, the Alviverde board keeps the athlete under a release clause of 100 million euros, approximately R$600 million.

The contractual protection, which extends until 2029, reflects the potential identified by analysis departments and technical committees. Recentemente, the CIES statistical portal Football Observatory included the Brazilian in the list of the ten most versatile under-20 defenders on the planet. Tal recognition is due to the unusual combination of its tall stature with speed ratings that exceed 30 km/h.

Versatilidade and physical performance draw attention to Europa

The defender’s physical profile is one of the pillars that sustain the interest of foreign clubs. At 1.97m tall, Benedetti presents ease in the aerial game, but also stands out for his agility in ground coverage. Lucas Andrade, current coach of the Brazilian under-20 team, classified the athlete as one of the most complete defenders he has ever seen at the alviverde base.

• Versatilidade tactic internationally recognized by CIES.
• Capacidade top scorer with more than ten goals scored at the base.
• Liderança served as captain of the under-20 team in competitions such as Libertadores.

The combination of these valences sparked the interest of Como and Itália. The team led by Cesc Fàbregas is monitoring the player as a possible replacement for Jacobo Ramón’s imminent departure. Apesar from the initial consultation, the Palmeiras strategy focuses on the gradual maturation of the young man before a definitive negotiation for the European market.

Trajetória formation and statistics in the main squad

Natural from Bauru, the player arrived at Palmeiras in 2022 after starting his training at Ferroviária, in Araraquara. Desde, who was part of Verdão’s youth teams, demonstrated quick adaptation to the club’s game model. Além of defensive physical size, the defender has a relevant offensive presence, accumulating 17 matches and one goal scored in the professional team.

Nesta season, Benedetti participated in five games, being named as a starter on two occasions. Coach Abel Ferreira has given the young man space to gain tactical experience, interspersing his use with the under-20 team, where he maintains a competitive pace. The club understands that the transition period is essential to bear the weight of playing in the Premier League or Champions League in the future.

Planejamento strategic and shielding against the market

The Palmeiras board is not in a hurry to complete the sale, prioritizing immediate technical gains. The transfer scenario for the next window should bring new offers, but the high termination fine gives the São Paulo club legal security. The focus of the coaching staff now is to prepare the player for the challenges of Copa, Brasil and Campeonato Brasileiro.

Leadership is another aspect that weighed positively in the board’s assessment. Benedetti was captain in the last Libertadores Sub-20 campaign, where Palmeiras reached third place. Essa early maturity in the dressing room is seen as a competitive advantage to withstand pressure from major European centers. The athlete continues training normally at Academia and Futebol and awaits new chances among the starters.
