Galaxy Watch users report system failure that prevents common apps from opening
Several Galaxy Watch smartwatch owners are encountering an annoying failure: some applications refuse to load completely. This scenario, where the software crashes before it even starts, has been recently reported by a number of users. However, there is relief in sight, as a fix for the issue now appears to be available for those facing the impediment.
Recently, reports of failures to access specific applications have emerged among Galaxy Watch device owners. In one of the posts on the Reddit platform, a user of the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic model detailed that apps such as Gmail, Google Calendar and WhatsApp did not work. According to the report, the program interface was briefly displayed before the system returned to the list of applications.

The situation is not restricted to a single device, with several other users expressing identical experiences with their respective Galaxy Watches. Amid the comments, a participant in the discussion indicated that he had discovered the fundamental origin of the inconvenience.
According to the analysis of this same Galaxy Watch owner, the fault lies in an error in the Wear OS 6 operating system. He described the scenario as a “zombie process” – a program that, although it has already terminated its activities, maintains an active record on the system. This process triggers a “deadlock”, a type of impasse in the system, caused by a defect in the operating system kernel. Essentially, a part of the application remains ‘ghost’ in the watch’s memory after use, and when the user tries to open the app again, the system detects this residual part, preventing the new launch as it is unable to complete the previous process.
