Beatriz Haddad said goodbye to Wimbledon in the first round this Tuesday. The Brazilian athlete, currently in 134th place in the world rankings, was unable to advance in the competition, being surpassed by Uzbek Maria Timofeeva, who occupies 85th position globally, in direct sets with scores of 6/3 and 6/2, marking her early elimination from the third Grand Slam of the season.
The setback on London soil worsens a challenging phase for the Brazilian tennis player. This result represents Bia Haddad’s eighth consecutive defeat on the professional circuit. Her most recent victory was recorded at the end of April, during the WTA 125 tournament in La Bisbal, Spain. Since then, the string of negative results has included a quarter-final exit at La Bisbal, followed by seven opening-round exits at major tournaments such as Rome, Clarins, Strasbourg, Roland Garros, Queen’s, Figueira da Foz and, finally, Wimbledon.

With her early departure, Beatriz Haddad’s position in the world rankings will be directly affected, with a significant drop expected. The tennis player had the task of defending the 60 points she obtained when participating in the second round in the previous edition of the tournament. Projections indicate that Bia Haddad, who reached the top 10 in the world in 2023 and reached the round of 16 at Wimbledon in the same year, will now be outside the group of the top 150 athletes on the planet. This change in level will make it difficult for the Brazilian to directly access important competitions on the WTA circuit and even the main draws of the Grand Slams, requiring the Brazilian to participate in more strenuous qualifiers.
The analysis of the duel demonstrates how the first set unfolded. Beatriz Haddad started the match by losing her own serve, but quickly showed resilience by getting a break back. However, the fourth game proved to be decisive for the direction of the partial; Seeking to equalize the score at 2-2, the Brazilian made several mistakes, including a double fault. This moment allowed her Uzbek opponent to build a considerable advantage, closing the set at 6/3.
In the second part of the clash, the dispute remained intense. Despite showing moments of good tennis and powerful strikes, Bia Haddad was unable to reverse the initial disadvantage. Timofeeva had a break of service at the beginning, maintaining the lead until the end. In the sixth game, the Brazilian tennis player was just two points away from tying the score at 30-30, but was unable to turn things around. The representative of Uzbekistan secured victory in the decisive set by 6/2, ending the match.
