Coach Carlo Ancelotti still has doubts about who will take Lucas Paquetá’s place in the Brazilian team’s next challenge at the World Cup. After observing Danilo Santos in training on Thursday (2), the coach intensified the uncertainty by including Martinelli in the activities this Friday (4), held at the Columbia Park training center, in Morristown.

The movements on the field also marked the return of Rayan, in addition to the presence of Raphinha, who had been away since the 19th, after the clash against Haiti. On that occasion, Ancelotti had focused on defining the starting lineup for Sunday’s clash (5) against Norway, which will take place at the MetLife Stadium, in New Jersey.

By analyzing the two players at different times during the preparations, Ancelotti preserved the uncertainty about which athlete will start the match this weekend. The choice involves an important tactical adaptation, considering the different characteristics of each player: Danilo Santos presents himself as a midfielder with strong marking power and the ability to advance the attack, while Martinelli is a winger known for his agility and constant movement. This difference in profile offers the team different strategic options depending on the game plan.

The coaching staff and Ancelotti now have a few hours and a final training session, with less intensity on Saturday (4), before the game, to define who will make up the starting eleven.
