Gynecologists constantly reinforce that rigorous maintenance of preventive assessments acts as the main barrier against the advancement of cervical tumors, currently classified as the third most common malignancy among the female population in the country.
Official surveys released by the National Cancer Institute (Inca) projected the diagnosis of 17,010 patients with this condition over the last reference year. Professionals in the oncology field guarantee that the annual cytopathological collection, popularly called preventive examination, can track precursor lesions long before they transform into a serious and irreversible condition.
Observing your own body requires daily attention to identify the following physical manifestations associated with the disease:
Blood loss outside the menstrual period requires medical investigation
Any blood leak that occurs outside the usual cycle, immediately after intimate relations or completely unexpectedly, requires immediate clinical evaluation. Women who have already gone through the menopause transition and notice stains on their panties again need to double their vigilance, regardless of the volume of the flow.
This atypical hemorrhage arises because tumor cells form an extremely delicate vascularization network, which breaks at the slightest friction. As the malignant mass grows and invades neighboring structures, the healthy mucosa ends up suffering fissures that also cause blood to leak.
Several other clinical conditions, however, trigger this same type of escape without any relation to oncology. Fluctuations in estrogen levels, the presence of polycystic ovary syndrome, fibroids lodged in the uterine wall and sexually transmitted infections are among the most common alternative diagnoses.
The unanimous guidance in offices determines that the appearance of any suspicious red spot justifies scheduling a gynecological appointment quickly.
Drastic changes in the texture and odor of intimate secretions
The elimination of fluids through the intimate region is part of female physiology, however, abrupt changes in the color, density or smell of this substance usually indicate that something is not working well in the body.
A fluid considered within normal standards has a transparent or slightly whitish appearance, a texture that varies from sticky to slippery, maintaining local lubrication without giving off strong or uncomfortable odors.
The development of a cancerous mass profoundly alters the vaginal flora ecosystem, destroying the inner lining and blocking the natural manufacture of this protective moisture.
Patients with the disease in the progression stage often report the release of a foul-smelling liquid, which can take on shades of pink, brown or bright red. This bloody appearance, added to the expulsion of small fragments of necrotic tissue, reflects the infectious process generated by the tumor lesion itself.
Dark spots on the daily sunscreen do not indicate an immediate cancer diagnosis, as the phenomenon occurs naturally in the days before menstruation, at the peak of the fertile period or in the initial weeks of a pregnancy. Very strong, fishy smells usually just point to a bacterial imbalance treatable with simple antibiotics.
Discomfort and sharp pain during intimate relations
Dyspareunia, a medical term for the pain felt at the time of penetration, frequently appears in the medical records of those who face this pathology. Symptom descriptions vary greatly, ranging from deep stitches to a severe burning sensation or intense cramps in the lower abdomen.
The physical impact generated by the sexual act directly affects the cervical canal which, as it is affected by inflammation and swelling from the cancer, reacts with extreme sensitivity to touch.
Experiencing pain in bed also raises suspicions for a long list of less lethal gynecological disorders, including:
- Foci of endometriosis spread throughout the reproductive system.
- Allergic reactions to condom latex or lubricants.
- Acute inflammations in the pelvic region.
- Severe dryness caused by the arrival of menopause.
- Disorders of gastrointestinal origin, such as irritable bowel syndrome.
Irradiation of pain to the back and pelvis region
Discomfort at the base of the spine and in the area between the hip bones is often ignored because it is confused with traditional menstrual cramps. The red light comes on when this constant weight appears outside the cycle and does not go away with common painkillers.
Advanced cancer conditions cause this continuous painful sensation because the disordered cellular mass grows to the point of crushing nerve endings, bone structures and adjacent organs within the pelvic cavity.
Back pain represents a universal complaint and, in the overwhelming majority of cases, it simply comes from long hours in the same position in front of the computer, a sedentary lifestyle or small muscle contractures resulting from physical exertion.
Difficulties and changes in bladder function
The female anatomy positions the cervical structure exactly under the urine reservoir, creating a dangerous proximity relationship. Any abnormal expansion of tissues at this boundary pushes on the bladder, reducing its storage capacity and forcing the patient to run to the bathroom numerous times a day.
Worsening the condition can trigger episodes of incontinence, recurrent urinary infections that cannot be cured with medication and even the visible presence of blood in the toilet bowl after urination.
Difficulties urinating, however, tend to have much simpler roots, originating from common bacterial cystitis, weakening of the pelvic floor after normal births or changes in the urogenital mucosa caused by the hormonal drop of maturity.
Direct impacts on intestinal transit and digestion
Severe changes in the evacuation rhythm are on the list of secondary signs that help put together the tumor diagnosis puzzle.
Bulky tumors can compress the final portion of the large intestine, creating a physical barrier that blocks the passage of feces. This mechanical obstruction creates a domino effect on the digestive system, resulting in a bloated belly, painful accumulation of gas, episodes of chronic nausea and severe constipation.
Constipation and gas are among the most generic symptoms in medicine, appearing routinely after the consumption of ultra-processed foods, lactose intolerance or a temporary virus.
Persistent swelling and excessive weight in the lower limbs
The metastasis of the disease often affects the lymph nodes located in the pelvis, creating hard nodules that block the drainage of fluids. This pressure against the wall of the pelvis prevents venous return, causing the legs to become painful and extremely swollen.
Heavy lower limbs also warn of the formation of thrombi in deep veins, failures in the peripheral circulatory system, untreated varicose veins or recent orthopedic trauma.
The accumulation of fluid in the calves and ankles still reflects everyday habits, such as excessive sodium consumption in meals, side effects of high blood pressure medication, rapid weight gain or natural retention during the months of pregnancy.
Fast weight loss without changes in diet or exercise
Seeing the numbers on the scale plummet without adopting any dietary restrictions constitutes a classic oncological warning sign. The disease consumes the patient’s energy and completely destroys the desire to eat.
To try to stop the malignant invasion, the body’s defense cells trigger the production of inflammatory cytokines on a large scale. That
