A portion of the Norwegian delegation is dealing with health issues while participating in the World Cup. Coach Stale Solbakken confirmed that athletes and members of the coaching staff presented cold symptoms, such as cough and general malaise, throughout the championship.
According to the coach, one of the affected players was striker Larsen, who developed a high fever. Solbakken explained that the intense routine of the tournament, with constant travel between cities, adaptations to new environments and the frequent use of air conditioning in hotels and transport, contributed to the emergence of problems. This scenario highlights the health challenges of high-performance athletes in long-term competitions, where the prevention of respiratory diseases becomes an extra layer of complexity, even with the cutting-edge medical structure available.
Despite the group’s health adversities, the Norwegian team continues its preparation for the important quarter-final match of the World Cup. The team, which managed to eliminate Brazil in a previous phase, is now preparing to face England. The decisive duel will take place in Miami, a city known for its high temperatures and humidity.
