The PlayStation Store has launched a summer sale with thousands of games and downloadable content (DLC) at reduced prices, as announced this week. The campaign ranges from more recent releases with modest discounts to significant savings on titles that have hit the market in recent years.

Great opportunities with up to 90% reduction

Players with more patience to wait for good deals can take advantage of the biggest discounts, which reach 75% to 90% on games released around three years ago or more. Several remakes of the Resident Evil series, for example, are available for less than US$10. For those who have not yet tried Resident Evil 2 (2019), it is an excellent opportunity to discover one of the best modern survival horror games.

Other highlights include the acclaimed The Witcher 3, which, despite being over a decade old, remains a fan favorite and frequently features in promotions. For science fiction lovers, Control Ultimate Edition and the Star Wars Jedi duology are attractive options.

  • The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt: $7.99 (80% off)
  • Control Ultimate Edition: $5.99 (85% off)
  • Resident Evil 4 (2023): $9.99 (75% off)

  • Dragon Ball FighterZ PS4 & PS5: $9.59 (84% off)
  • NBA 2K26 for PS5: $6.99 (90% off) — *Exclusive to PlayStation Premium users*

Among the games scheduled for 2026, Saros Digital Deluxe, a bullet-hell roguelike from Housemarque, has a 25% discount, costing US$59.99. The survival horror hit Resident Evil Requiem has a 20% discount, costing US$55.99. Team Ninja’s latest acclaimed soulslike, Nioh 3, has a solid 36% discount at $44.79.

  • Resident Evil Requiem: $55.99 (20% off)
  • Saros Digital Deluxe: $59.99 (25% off)
  • Nioh 3: $44.79 (36% off)

Sales successes are also included in the promotion

Finally, several best-selling titles have good discounts. Controversial Pokémon-inspired survival game Palworld is 30% off, while Cyberpunk 2077 is 60% cheaper for PlayStation Plus Extra subscribers. For 2025 releases, Battlefield 6 already has a 50% discount, Split Fiction has a 35% discount, Assassin’s Creed Shadows has a 55% discount, Digimon Story Time Stranger has a 43% discount and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has a 60% discount for PlayStation Plus Premium members. Beloved platformer Astro Bot is 34% off, and Deltarune, Toby Fox’s brilliant episodic RPG, is 20% off.

  • Palworld: US$20.99 (30% off)

  • Astro Bot: $39.59 (34% off)

  • Split Fiction: $32.49 (35% off)

  • Assassin’s Creed Shadows: $31.49 (55% off)

  • Digimon Story Time Stranger: $39.89 (43% off)

  • Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2: $27.99 (60% off)

The discounts come at a time when Sony is facing strong backlash over its decision to end support for physical game releases on its consoles. The move has sparked outrage among consumers, advances in emulation and even boycotts, as many see a direct impact on game ownership rights. Shortly after, Sony subsidiary Crunchyroll announced that it would restrict access to its store which, among other products, sells physical anime releases at a more expensive subscription level of the service. Although it is likely that this PlayStation promotion was planned before these controversies, the timing of its launch is, at the very least, convenient amid these discussions about consumer rights in the digital universe.
