Coach Carlo Ancelotti will make the first call-up of the Brazilian team for the 2030 World Cup cycle on September 9, 2026, with the announcement scheduled for 3pm. The list of players will be published, as usual, at the headquarters of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), located in Rio de Janeiro. This moment marks the official beginning of the national team’s journey towards the next World Cup.
In the days leading up to the announcement, Ancelotti completed an intense schedule in Europe, visiting countries such as France and England to closely observe the performance of possible future players. Meanwhile, the Seleção’s technical committee was in Brazil, following matches from the Copa do Brasil, the Brazilian Championship and continental tournaments, in a joint effort to define the athletes who will be part of the first list.
The expectations surrounding this post-World Cup squad are high. It is expected that Ancelotti will begin a process of gradual renewal in the squad, especially after the performance in the previous World Cup. However, the tendency is for the coach to maintain part of the group of players who had already been working under his command since the beginning of his tenure with the Seleção. In total, 26 names will be called for the first friendly matches. The challenge will be to find the balance between bringing in new talent and maintaining experience to build a competitive team in the long term.
FIFA Superdate of 2026 marks the beginning of the National Team’s challenges
Ancelotti’s call-up will be destined for the first FIFA super date of the year. From 2026 onwards, the International Football Federation (Fifa) has unified the September and October periods into a single window, allowing up to four matches to be played. The CBF has already confirmed that the Brazilian team will face Australia on two occasions, in addition to a clash with India. Games against the Australians will take place in Townsville on September 25th and Brisbane on September 29th. Carlo Ancelotti’s team will next travel to Kolkata, India, for the game on October 3.
There are still discussions about the possibility of Brazil playing a fourth match in the same period, also on the Asian continent. However, this definition is still open and awaits official confirmation.
