Canadian streaming platform Crave and American distributor HBO Max confirmed actor David Tomlinson for the second season of Heated Rivalry during ongoing production in Canada ahead of a scheduled spring 2027 release. The announcement verified unofficial set photographs taken by bystanders and paparazzi that previously triggered widespread audience speculation regarding his role.
Leaked set images reveal character alterations
Viewers initially identified Tomlinson as the book counterpart Dallas Kent, but television executives updated the name to Cody Kent for the adaptation.
Cody stands as a former teammate and close friend of Troy Barrett who faced accusations of sexual assault, an incident that triggered a heavily publicized falling out between the players and resulted in Troy securing a trade from the Toronto Guardians to the Ottawa Centaurs. The narrative friction between both athletes anchors the secondary plotline alongside newcomer Charlie Gillespie.
Five performers join the expanded ensemble
The production confirmed five additional cast members to portray figures surrounding the central locker rooms and family circles:
- Brendan Morgan as Centaurs alternate captain Zane Boodram
- Gerry Dee as Toronto Guardians leader Coach Cooper
- Michelle Mylett as Lisa, the wife of player Wyatt Hayes
- Lauren Chan as promo team photographer Gen
- Nick Stahl as Troy Barrett’s toxic father Curtis Barrett
Gen collaborates directly with Harris Drover on promotional assignments for the Ottawa franchise. Curtis introduces deep familial hostility toward his son during pivotal sports sequences. Justice Smith stars opposite Gillespie to depict a prominent romantic bond across the upcoming episodes.
Central hockey romance continues in Ottawa
Lead actors Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie reprise their positions as all-star hockey competitors Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov. Ilya relocates to Canada to join the Ottawa Centaurs roster to manage a concealed private relationship with Shane.
